USA Volleyball 2008 Girls’ SELECT A1 Program Invitees

Congratulations! You have been invited to the Girls’ USA SELECT A1 program (GSEL A1). You’re in a group of the 30 top evaluated athletes from tryouts.  This program will train and compete in Tucson, Arizona from July 17th -27th.  The training portion will be from July 17th-22nd.  The group will then be divided into 3 teams and compete representing USA Volleyball in the 2008 USAV High Performance Championships from July 23rd - 26th.  Athletes will return home on July 27th.

The Coaching Staff for the GSEL A1 program for 2008 will be:

Cost of the GSEL A1 program: $975. This includes room, board and ground transportation in Tucson. *(Athletes will be responsible for transportation to/from Tucson and the costs of lunch and dinner during the tournament July 23st-26th)

Confirmation of the GSEL A1 program:  Please email your acceptance/decline to gary.mathews@usav.org.  The deadline for confirmation is Wednesday, May 14, 2008 11:59 (MT).  Please note that final acceptance is only confirmed after receipt of payment of $975.

DEADLINES:

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - Accept or decline invitation to gary.mathews@usav.org.  Please note that final acceptance is only confirmed after receipt of payment of $975.

Friday, May 23, 2008 - Payment of $975 due in USAV office.  Please contact our office to make payment arrangements if necessary.  Athletes are eligible for a $900 refund prior to July 1, 2007 if USA Volleyball is able to replace your spot with another athlete.  If USA Volleyball cannot replace the spot, the refund will only be $275.  No refunds will be issued after July 1, 2007.

Note: Once we have your acceptance, we will distribute other necessary forms and paperwork required for your participation in this program. Specific travel requirements and other logistical information requests will be sent to you shortly.

DO NOT book air reservations until you have received an email confirmation from the HP Department.

GSEL A1 Program Specifics:

  • All athletes will fly to Tucson, AZ, beginning on July 17th. Please note that we have a preferred window for setting your flight-arrival times in Tucson – 10:30am – 4:00pm.
  • We will pick up all players at the airport and take full care of them until we take them back to the airport on the 27th.
  • The squad will train for five days and split into three teams for competition.
  • These 3 teams will compete in USA High Performance Championships, to be held in the same city July 23rd – 26th.
  • Parents are absolutely welcome to come to Tucson on their own. The best time is during the HP Championships competition.
  • Players will schedule their flights home for the morning of the 27th.
  • The teams will compete in the International Youth Division.
  • The $975 cost will cover all room, training, facility, competition, uniform, local transportation etc. costs for athletes involved in the Girls USA Select A1 program.
  • The USA teams will be housed at the Inn & Suites Hotel which is about 5 blocks from the Convention Center.
  • Training and competition will take place at the Tucson Convention Center.
  • Athletes will also be responsible for their own lunches and dinners from July 22-26. These meals will be coordinated and assisted by the coaching staff of the various teams.
  • Once final confirmations have been received from all 30 athletes regarding their intent to participate in the GSEL A1 Program, the roster will be finalized and posted on the USA Volleyball High Performance Web site.
  • We will then send out additional information on the hotels, training sites, what to bring, how we will meet at the airport, etc.
