COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 13, 2007) – USA Volleyball’s Department of Indoor High Performance announced today details for its 6th Annual USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic to be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., from Jan. 17-20, 2008.
USA Volleyball is very excited to bring you world-renowned Russian volleyball coach Nikolai Karpol, “The Howling Bear,” as the event’s keynote speaker. He will share technical and theoretical insight into his coaching philosophies. Among his many accomplishments, Karpol has won two Olympic gold medals (1980, 1988), two Olympic silver medals (1992, 2000), FIVB World Championship gold medal in 1990 and three bronze medals (1994, 1998, 2002) in the same event, three FIVB World Grand Prix titles (1997, 1999, 2002) and was selected Coach of the Year by the FIVB in 1989 and 1991.
As anticipated, both the U.S. National Indoor Team head coaches – “Jenny” Lang Ping and Hugh McCutcheon – will share insight and on-court training methods. The U.S. Women’s National Team will serve as demonstrators throughout the clinic.
Allen Hedrick, the head strength and conditioning coach at the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), will also serve as a featured presenter.
The USA Volleyball Coaching Education Department will again offer Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) opportunities for attendees interested in working toward USA Volleyball Coach Certification. These courses may be purchased while registering for the clinic.

Data Volley, Data Video, VIS System Seminar at USAV High Performance Coaches' Clinic
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 3, 2007) - USA Volleyball and Data Project USA have teamed up to offer a Data Volley, Data Video, and VIS system training session from January 21-22, 2008 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs. This training session will be at the conclusion of the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaching Clinic.
Registration for the two day seminar is US$300. Those also attending the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaching Clinic may take US$100 off of the registration fees for the Data Project Statistical Training Session. This fee is in addition to the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaching Clinic registration fee for those attending both seminars.
Room and board at the U.S. Olympic Training Center is available for an additional $40/day. This rate includes meals, dorm room (double occupancy) and transportation to and from the Colorado Springs airport. The Doubletree World Arena (10 minutes from the OTC) is also offering the USA Volleyball rate of $89/night for the duration of the clinics. The Doubletree offers free parking, hotel shuttle from the Colorado Springs airport, and the Mountain Metro bus service which provides transportation to the OTC. Data Volley is the program for volleyball statistical scouting and analysis used by the top international teams. Have the experience of the best coaches in the world in a simple, intuitive and complete tool. The program can be used for pre- and post-match analysis, on the bench during matches and in practice sessions.
Data Video is the video editing software used by the top international teams in the world for match preparation and tactics. Data Video allows you to synchronize the statistical Scout of the match with the technical video in moments; quickly allowing for the viewing and editing of any aspect of the match, see all the rallies needed to study and analyze both teams (rotations, attacking, defense and more).
VIS is the statistical system that is used in all FIVB sanctioned events. There are slight differences in international scouting that will be discussed along with the proper protocols the FIVB requires for the VIS Supervisor at these events. Those that complete this two day seminar will be eligible to serve as the VIS Technical Delegate representing USA Volleyball at the World League, NORCECA events and other FIVB events within the United States.
