U.S. World League Roster Features Four Top Setters

(May 5, 2008) –USA Volleyball has announced the 19-man roster that will be used for this summer’s FIVB World League tournament.

The 19-man World League roster is a pool from which U.S. Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon can pick 12 players before each weekend of World League.

This year’s World League pool-play matches take on a greater significance as McCutcheon and his staff determine the 12-man roster for the 2008 Olympic Games. The roster must be submitted to the U.S. Olympic Committee by July 1. MORE

U.S. Men to Go from NCAA Championship to Training with Japan

(May 6, 2008) –Three players from the 2007 U.S. Men’s Junior National Volleyball Team were on the winning side of the NCAA Division I Men’s National Championship on Saturday as No. 1 Penn State defeated No. 2 Pepperdine, 27-30, 33-31, 30-25, 30-23.

Junior outside hitter Matt Anderson (West Seneca, N.Y.), who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Championship and was named the 2008 AVCA Men’s Division I-II Co-National Player of the Year, was one of the leaders of the Men’s Junior Team that placed seventh at the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship on Sunday in Rabat, Morocco.

Penn State junior middle hitter Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore middle hitter Max Lipsitz (Williamsville, N.Y.), who both made the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team were also on the 2007 Junior National Team. MORE
