INTERESTING NOTE: Eckerman was name the 2009 Human Right Youth of the Year and serves as an elementary mentor. She volunteers as a S.T.A.R. (Safety, Trustworthy, Attitude, Respectful) at an elementary school and teaches volleyball to middle school gym classes.
