Foundations of Coaching Requirement
Prior to becoming accredited as a CAP Level I coach, ALL coaches must
also satisfy a "Foundations of Coaching" course requirement. At
present, this requirement may be met at any time before or after enrolling
in the CAP II course and in any ONE of the following ways:
1) Becoming IMPACT (or IMPACT Instructor) certified through your USAV Region; IMPACT clinics are administered, scheduled & taught by the USAV Regional Offices; IMPACT clinics may also be offered the afternoon or evening before the opening rounds of play for Jr. National Qualifiers & National Championship events- contact the Qualifier host or the USAV Championship Events staff for information on schedule, cost & registration.
2) Becoming ASEP (Principles of Coaching) certified, directly through ASEP at www.asep.com; you can register for & take this course from them on-line.
3) Holding a bachelor or master degree in one of the following areas - Physical Education, Coaching, or Sport Management (or proof of having taken a coaching principles course in course work toward such a degree).
4) Teaching a college course in Foundations of Coaching
5) Certification in many other state or regional based coaching certification programs (such as PACE, etc.)
By 2005, the Foundations Course Requirement will become a Pre-Requisite to attending a CAP Level I Course.
At or following your CAP Level I course, submit to the USA Volleyball National Office, proof of one of the above in the following acceptable forms:
1) Photocopy or fax of your IMPACT certification card or certificate, or email/letter from your home Region Office verifying your certification date.
2) Photocopy or fax of your ASEP pass letter or certificate
3) Copy or fax of College Transcripts (with appropriate courses highlighted), and Diploma
4) Copy or fax of College Catalog listing, describing the course(s) and listing you as instructor, or letter from authorized department supervisor stating these facts.
5) Photocopy or fax of your pass letter or certificate, and course content, from other state or regional based coaching certification programs, reviewed on an individual basis.
