USA VOLLEYBALL CAP LEVEL I MODULE TOPICS
Note that the BLACK topics are standard with your basic CAP Level I course
fee & are offered at each course; the RED topics
may require an additional fee and/or may be rotated & not offered at all
courses. Some topics may be repeated during a weekend. Most Modules are
1.5 hours long.
DAY 2:
Intro to Blocking Techniques - an on-the-court session addressing
how to teach blocking technique applicable to YOUR team's personnel &
competitive level.
Intro to Passing, Digging & Ind. Floor Defense Tech. - an on-the-court
session addressing how to teach the techniques of individual defense such as
forearm passing; reading, anticipation & movement skills; straight on digging;
and emergency pursuit of the ball.
Intro to Offense Sys. Organization - a classroom session focused
on understanding the options for organizing your offensive systems to best
fit your team's personnel & competitive level.
Intro to Middle Attack Techniques - an on-the-court session
concentrating on teaching & training the movement & attack options for
your team's middle hitters at your competitive level.
Intro to Defensive Sys. Organization - a classroom session dealing with
the options for organizing your defensive systems to best fit your team's
personnel & competitive level.
Intro to Serve Rec. Sys. Organization - an on-the-court session
addressing the options for organizing your serve receive systems to best
fit your team's personnel & competitive level.
Intro to Setter Techniques- a classroom session focused on teaching &
training the movement & technique options for your team's setters at your
competitive level.

Serve Receive Offensive Systems - an on-the-court session concentrating on
training your team's passers & hitters within your designed serve receive
system for your competitive level.
Contrasting Team Offensive Systems - an on-the-court session comparing
& contrasting the options for organizing your offensive system; advantages
& disadvantages of systems to best fit your team's personnel & competitive
level.
Contrasting Team Defensive Systems - an on-the-court session comparing &
contrasting the options for organizing your defensive systems; advantages
& disadvantages of systems to best fit your team's personnel & competitive
level.
Sport Psychology for Coaches & Athletes - a classroom session focused
on understanding the principles of sport psychology and goal setting activities
for use with your team's personnel.
Running a Practice On the Court - an on-the-court session with
practical ideas for and organizing & running your most effective practices;
a hands on experience.
Conditioning for Strength & Power - a classroom/weight room session addressing
principles of conditioning & strength training, and ideas for training your
team on the court, in the weight room and for those without access to a
weight room.
Attacker Roles (G) - an on-the-court session concentrating on
identifying & training your hitters in their specific roles within your
designed offensive system to best fit your team's personnel & competitive
level.
