Congratulations! The athletes listed above have been selected for the 2007 Boys’ USA Youth National Training Team or as alternates to the Training Team. These athletes were selected from a large pool of Youth-age athletes at 12 HP tryouts held across the country.
Please note that all BYNTT Alternates are automatically invited to attend the Boys Youth A2 Program. Please go back one page and link on the BYA2 description to see information. Players should not wait until decisions are made regarding the BYNTT before they register for the BYA2; any/all players who are registered for the BYA2 will receive a full $ refund if they are slotted up to the Boys’ Youth National Training Team.
This webpage will continue to be the news and update link for BYNTT athletes for the coming months. Please copy this page to your Favorites menu.
BYNTT Program Specifics:
- The eighteen selected athletes comprise the 2007 Boys’ Youth National Training Team.
- The eighteen athletes must confirm their intention to participate on the BYNTT to Collin Powers in the HP Dept of USA Volleyball by Friday, April 6th (phone 719.228.6800 or email collin.powers@usav.org). After that date, alternates will be slotted onto the team.
- All eighteen athletes will be brought together to train at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center, in Southern California, beginning in late July (tentatively July 24th).
- From this group a final squad of twelve athletes will be chosen to represent the USA as the 2007 Boys’ Youth National Team.
- The Boys’ YNT will travel to Mexico in mid August (final date will depend on whether we are able to put together a few pre-tournament scrimmage matches) to compete in 2007 Boys’ Youth World Championships.
- There are no costs to athletes and their families for participating on the Boys’ Youth National Training Team. All costs are covered by USA Volleyball and grants from the US Olympic Committee.
- Head Coach of the 2007 Boys’ Youth Team is Tino Reyes from University of Hawai’i. He will assisted by Ken Shibuya of Stanford University and Shawn Patchell of Brigham Young University. Other coaching staff will also participate.
- The BYNTT will travel to Chula Vista around July 24th (travel will be coordinated through the USAV Office, unless parents will drive the athlete) for approximately three weeks of training.
- No sooner than seven days into the training, the roster will be cut to the final twelve athletes who will comprise the 2007 Boys USA Youth National Team.
- Once final confirmations have been received from all 18 athletes regarding their intent to participate on the BYNTT, a roster will be finalized and posted on the USA Volleyball High Performance website.
There are a number of things that we need from these athletes and families:
- First, please call or email Collin Powers indicating whether you accept this offer to participate on the 2007 BYNTT.
- For all email correspondence related to this program, please include your name and BYNTT in the subject line of the email.
- Athletes must possess a current US Passport, valid at least through March of 2008. Please fax or scan/email a copy of the picture/signature pages of your passport to Carla Hall at her personal office fax at USAV: 719.635.0826 (use this fax number for this purpose only) or send to Carla Hall with a cover memo. Please indicate in the cover memo that you are a Boys’ YNTT participant.

It is essential that you complete this step immediately upon confirmation of your willingness to participate on the 2007 Boys’ Youth National Training Team.
- All participating athletes must complete a number of Olympic Training Center forms that need to be signed (by athlete and parent) and faxed to Carla Hall at the fax number above. These forms will be up-linked to this webpage within a couple of weeks. participating athletes must complete a USAV Traveler’s Profile for travel to Lake Placid, and possibly the Dominican Republic.
