USA Volleyball Girls’ Youth - A2 2008 HP Championship Teams Invitees

Congratulations! You have been selected to the 2008 USA Volleyball Girls’ Youth - A2 program. You, along with 49 other top athletes, will train and compete in Tucson, Ariz., from July 17-27.

• The identified athletes comprise the 2008 Girls' USA Youth A2 Program.
• All athletes will fly to Tucson, AZ, beginning on July 17th. Please note that we have a preferred window for setting your flight-arrival times in Tucson – 10:30am – 4:00pm.
• We will pick up all players at the airport and take full care of them until we take them back to the airport on the 27th.
• The squad will train for five days and split into five teams for competition.
• These five teams will compete in Girls' USA High Performance Championships, to be held in the same city July 23rd – 26th.
• Parents are absolutely welcome to come to Tucson on their own. The best time is during the HP Championships competition.
• Players will schedule their flights home for the morning of the 27th.
• The Coaching Staff for the USA Volleyball Girls’ Youth A2 program will be headed by Shelton Collier, former National Team Assistant Coach and head coach of many USA Youth & Junior teams including the 2003 and 2007 Youth Team that attended the Youth World Championships and the 2005 Junior Team that attended the Junior Worlds. At least nine other coaches will assist Coach Collier in training and coaching this group. The final list of coaches will be posted upon confirmation.
• The teams will compete in the International Junior Division or the International Youth Division with other USA teams, Region HP teams and unconfirmed teams from Chile, Puerto Rico, Canada and Slovenia.
• Due to the extended training and competition for this Program, the cost of this camp and competition will be $975/athlete, plus the costs for any travel to get to Tucson and back home.
• The $975 cost will cover all room, training, facility, competition, uniform, local transportation etc. costs for athletes involved in the Girls USA Youth A2 program.
• The USA teams will be housed at the Inn & Suites Hotel which is about 5 blocks from the Convention Center.
• Training and competition will take place at the Tucson Convention Center.
• Athletes will also be responsible for their own lunches and dinners from July 22-26. These meals will be coordinated and assisted by the coaching staff of the various teams.
• Once final confirmations have been received from all 50 athletes regarding their intent to participate in the Girls’ USA Youth A2 Program, the roster will be finalized and posted on the USA Volleyball High Performance Web site.
• We will then send out additional information on the hotels, training sites, what to bring, how we will meet at the airport, etc.

Deadlines:

Monday May 12, 2008 - Accept or decline invitation to Heath at Heath.Hoke@usav.org. Please note that final acceptance is only confirmed after receipt of payment of $975.

Friday, May 23, 2008 - Payment of $975 due in USAV Office. Please contact our office to make payment arrangements if necessary. Athletes are eligible for a $900 refund prior to July 1, 2008 If USA Volleyball is able to replace them within the camp. If USA Volleyball cannot replace the athlete, we will provide a refund of $275. No refunds will be issued after July 1, 2008.
