USA Volleyball 2008 - Girls’ Youth National Training Team Invitees

Congratulations! You have been selected to the USA Volleyball 2008 Girls’ Youth National Training Team (GYNTT). You and 21 other Youth athletes from across the country will come together in Atlanta to participate in a three day training/tryout . All 22 athletes will vie for the 12 spots on the Girls’ Youth National Team (GYNT) roster. The training/tryout is at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Ga, from May 15th to May 18th. The 12 players selected from this group will represent USA Volleyball as our 2008 GYNT at the NORCECA Continental Championships in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The NORCECA Continental Championship competition will run from July 3-11.

We are looking into possible training for available players prior to the competition in a U.S. city or players may go early to Puerto Rico, all of which will be after the players' respective final club competition concludes. The GYNT players will return from Puerto Rico on July 11.

The 10 players not selected to the GYNT are automatically invited to the Youth National A2 program enabling them to extend their training and compete in the International High Performance Championship in Tucson, AZ. For details click here.

The Coaching Staff for the USA Volleyball Girls’ Youth National Team will be:
Head Coach: Jim Stone, retired Ohio State University
Assistant Coach: Melissa Wolter, University of West Florida
Assistant Coach: Neil Mason, TCA Volleyball Club

Cost: $0 for Participants. USA Volleyball covers all costs for the Atlanta and Puerto Rico sessions.

Confirmation of the USA Volleyball GYNTT: Please email Heath at heath.hoke@usav.org to accept or decline your invitation. The deadline for confirmation is Thursday, May 1, 2008 at noon MST. If you need additional time to consider the invitation, please contact Heath prior to May 1.

If you accept this invitation, you will need to acquire a US Passport that is valid through the dates of the competition. This is a requirement for participation in any international event. It is highly recommended that you expedite this process.

By accepting this invitation, barring any unforeseen injuries, you agree to participate in the NORCECA Continental Championships if selected to the roster. Furthermore, you agree to play any position or serve the role that best suits the needs of the team to be successful at the Continental Championships. You will also notify USA Volleyball immediately should you suffer an injury that could deter you from performing at your best during the training and competition.

Note: Once we have received your acceptance, we will distribute the necessary forms and paperwork required for your participation in this program including specific travel requirements and other information requests.
