Starting with the first Lone Star Classic in 1988, there were 71 teams representing nine states. The tournament continues to grow in size and strength of competition. Last year, the tournament broke the 1,200 team record mark with over 1230 teams competing! 2008 marks the 21st anniversary of the The Mizuno Lone Star Classic^TM, the largest of the Junior National Qualifiers.

Not only is it the largest of the USA national qualifiers, it is the largest girls' volleyball event in the world. Last year, the tournament broke the 1,200-team record mark with over 1,230 teams competing!
