Kerri Walsh Announces She's Pregnant

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 4, 2008) - U.S. beach volleyball player and two-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh (Saratoga, Calif.) announced yesterday that she was pregnant with her first child in an exclusive interview with Billy Bush for Access Hollywood and "The Billy Bush Show."

Walsh is married to U.S. beach volleyball player Casey Jennings (Las Vegas, Nev.), who narrowly missed qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games with Matt Fuerbringer (Costa Mesa, Calif.).

Walsh told Bush she was about 16 and a half weeks along, which means her child has already won his or her first international beach volleyball event. She and fellow Olympian Nicole Branagh (Orinda, Calif.) won the SWATCH FIVB World Tour event on Oct. 11 in Dubai .

Walsh won her last AVP Tour event with Jen Boss (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) on Sept. 28 in Glendale, Ariz. Walsh and regular partner Misty May-Treanor (Costa Mesa, Calif.) last competed together when they won the AVP's Manhattan Beach Open on Sept. 20.

Walsh and May-Treanor won the 2008 Olympic gold medal on Aug. 21 in Beijing. Both players said during the Games that they would like to start families following the 2008 season.
