The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team defeated the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-19) on Sunday in its first pool-play match of the 2008 NORCECA Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification Championship in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Well, USA Volleyball has just the thing for you with the upcoming 2008 USA High Performance Coaches' Clinic held Jan. 17-20 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. World-renowned Russian volleyball coach Nikolai Karpol - The Howling Bear - will serve as the keynote speaker for the event. Hugh McCutcheon and Lang Ping will also provide insight and court training.

UC SANTA BARBARA'S PRESTON TO RETIRE AFTER SEASON |

Ken Preston, the winningest coach in UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball history and one of the winningest active coaches in the nation, will retire following the 2008 season, his 30th as head of the Gaucho program. Preston has coached for USA Volleyball, including serving as the team leader for the U.S. National Team at the World University Games in Turkey during the summer of 2005. In the summer of 2000, he was an assistant coach on the U.S. Olympic Team in Sydney, Australia.

USA Volleyball's High Performance Indoor Program will host 33 tryouts for girls in 2008. The USA Volleyball High Performance Tryout online registration system will be available soon. Cost for registering through the online High Performance Tryout registration system will stay at $65; and the cost for registering using the mail-in or fax-in HP tryout registration will be $75. MORE

Andrew Cassius, 18, a setter for the men's volleyball team at State University of New York at New Paltz, was the youngest member of the U.S. team at the Pan-American Maccabi Games on Dec. 22, 2007-Jan. 2, 2008 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The U.S. men's team won the bronze medal while the U.S. women's team took the silver. MORE
