2007 USAV ATHLETES AND COACHES OF THE YEAR |

| USA Volleyball announced Jan. 28 its choices for 2007 Athletes of the Year, Team of the Year and Coaches of the Year as part of the United States Olympic Committee’s (USOC) annual awards program. Tayyiba Haneef-Park (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Ryan Millar (Palmdale, Calif.) were selected as the USAV Female and Male Indoor Athletes of the Year. Misty May-Treanor (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) were chosen as USAV Female and Male Beach Athletes of the Year. May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Santa Clara, Calif.) earned the USAV Beach Team of the Year distinction. Lora Webster (Cave Creek, Ariz.) was tabbed as the USAV Sitting Volleyball Player of the Year. John Speraw (Irvine, Calif.) and Scott Mebruer (St. Louis, Mo.) were selected as USAV's nominees for National and Developmental Coaches of the Year, respectively. MORE

USA Volleyball has announced that it has hired Danalee Corso to serve as technical coordinator and master coach for its growing beach volleyball program. Corso, working closely with USAV Director of Beach Programs Ali Wood, will serve as the junior national team coach as well as provide technical assistance to the elite athletes who represent the United States in international competition. Among her duties will be organizing youth and junior beach volleyball performance camps and coordinating the selection and training of youth and junior athletes for international tournaments. MORE

USAV HP COACHES' CLINIC BRINGS IN THE MASTER COACHES |

| The USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic attracted 190 attendees who learned from some of the most brilliant volleyball minds in the world Jan. 17-20 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. In conjunction with the clinic, USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) conducted several sessions toward the CAP Level I and II certification. Among the presenters were former Russian women’s volleyball coach Nikolay Karpol as the keynote presenter, U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon and U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach “Jenny” Lang Ping. Both Karpol and Lang Ping have earned Olympic Games medals as coaches, while McCutcheon and Lang Ping are taking their respective teams to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. MORE

USA Volleyball's High Performance Indoor Program will host 33 tryouts for girls in 2008. The USA Volleyball High Performance Tryout online registration system will be available soon. Cost for registering through the online High Performance Tryout registration system will stay at $65; and the cost for registering using the mail-in or fax-in HP tryout registration will be $75. MORE

USA VOLLEYBALL LAUNCHES ON-LINE USER VIDEO CHANNEL |

USA Volleyball announced Feb. 1 that it has launched an interactive video web component on its web site called “USA Volleyball Video Channel” and accessed at http://www.usavolleyball.org/video/default.aspx.
Essentially, the functionality allows users to upload volleyball-related video for USA Volleyball to review and post either directly “as-is” or in post-production format coming video segments similar to a television show or newscast.
The first project under the USA Volleyball Video Channel umbrella will be “Ask the CEO,” where the general public can upload their video questions to the site. USA Volleyball Chief Executive Officer Doug Beal will respond via a video-streamed format to selected questions on a monthly basis. The deadline for the first responses must be posted to the site by Friday, Feb. 15.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL JUNIOR CLUB COACHES AND DIRECTORS!
As approved by all USAV Regions in 2007, ALL USAV Junior Club coaches must be IMPACT certified to coach in 2008. Therefore, the USAV Events and Educations Departments will not be offering any on-site IMPACT Clinics at either the Girls' or the Boys' Junior Olympic Championships this summer, and ALL COACHES MUST BE IMPACT certified BEFORE arriving at their Championship tournament. USAV Junior Club coaches will have ample opportunities to do so at on-site Clinics hosted by their Region Office, at Junior Qualifier on-site Clinics and on-line via the USAV IMPACT Clinic Webinars. Region Offices may also request a Webinar date & time be scheduled specifically for their members.
USA Volleyball’s Education Department announces the next presentations of the Online IMPACT Clinic Webinars!
The dates for Webinar #8 are Wednesday evening, Feb. 6, and Thursday evening, Feb. 7. The dates for Webinar #9 are Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. Both IMPACT Webinars will run from 7-9:30 p.m. CT. Lead instructor for Webinar #8 will be Sandy Troudt (with guest presenters Stu Sherman and Cecile Reynaud). Lead instructor for Webinar #9 will be Stu Sherman (with guest presenter John Kessel).
The dates for Webinar #10 are Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6. The dates for Webinar #11 are March 19 and March 20. Both IMPACT Webinars will run from 7-9:30 p.m. ET.
