U.S. GIRLS' YOUTH NATIONAL TRAINING TEAM ANNOUNCED

Photo courtesy of Tricia Johnson USA Volleyball has announced the 18-player roster for the 2007 U.S. Girls’ Youth National Training Team, which will train July 14-29 at Chula Vista, Calif. The roster will be cut in late July to the maximum 12 players who will represent the U.S. at the FIVB U-18 World Championships held July 31-Aug. 11 in Mexico’s Baja California region. The World Championships will be held in Tijuana, Mexicali and Ensenada. MORE

JUNIOR OLYMPIC AWARDS ANNOUNCED IN AUSTIN
Six individuals were honored for their contributions to club and youth volleyball at the USA Volleyball YJOVD Luncheon on May 21 in Austin, Texas. Among the awards were Outstanding Program Director, Outstanding Male Coach, Outstanding Female Coach, Outstanding Parent Service, Outstanding Service and Outstanding Clinician. MORE

Photo courtesy of Tricia Johnson Clare Lanigan, who plays for the Northern Virginia Volleyball Association’s (NVVA) Select 15 team and her sister Kat, a member of Northern Virginia Volleyball Club’s (NOVA) 16s team, are co-chairs of Kids Serve Too, a national program that honors and supports the children of deployed military members. The sisters created KS2 in 2003 after their father’s second deployment in the United States Army Reserve. MORE

Although only three of the eight players on the roster had played club volleyball, the Carolina Regional Volleyball Association 14U team based in Wilmington, N.C., has steadily improved with quality play.     A USA Volleyball Junior Volleyball Coaches and Club Directors Forum will be held at 9:30 p.m. on the day of your division's coaches meeting (or immediately after the meeting) at the USA Junior Olympic Girls' Vollyeball Championships in Minneapolis and the USA Junior Olympic Boys' Volleyball Championship in Atlanta. The meeting will take place in the same room as the preceding coaches' meetings. The forums are being sponsored by the Administrative Council and the General Forum of the Youth and Junior Olympic Volleyball Divisions of USA Volleyball.
