COACH EDUCATION SCHEDULE |

The CAP I & II courses scheduled for March 31- April 1, 2007 at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Mich., have been CANCELLED due to lack of enrollment.
The A5 Mizuno Volleyball Club in Atlanta, Ga., is holding its second in a series of Continuing Coaching Education Clinics at which licensed CAP Modules credits are earned for their club coaching staff. The first CAP Modules Clinic hosted by A5 Volleyball Club was taught by head coach Fran Flory from Louisiana State University. This second clinic will be taught by head coach Joe Getzin from the University of Mississippi, on March 31, 2007 at Emory University in Atlanta. It is open only to the A5 Mizuno coaching staff. If your club would like to offer such licensed CAP Modules credits to your coaching staff or for any other coaching clinic, please contact the USAV-CAP department staff at cap@usav.org or 719-228-6800 for more information and an application.

April 4-6: Colorado Springs, Colo., CAP Level III/USOC Training Design Symposium

| The USA Volleyball Girls Invitational will take place in Atlanta, Ga., at the Georgia World Congress Center on June 7-10. This is an exceptional year with no wait-list and college coaches on site. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has announced that three-time Olympic volleyball player Scott Fortune (1988, -92, -96) is among the members of its Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC) who will participate in Project Rebound on April 20, 2007 to benefit New Orleans schools affected by Hurricane Katrina. Eighteen AAC members, Olympians, Paralympians and elite athletes will visit 10 New Orleans “Recovery School District” schools (grades K-8) to promote the Olympic Value of Sportsmanship. For more information, click here … Children with physical disabilities, ages 12-18, as well as coaches, teachers and program leaders are encouraged to apply for a chance to win a trip to the 2007 National Paralympic Academy, June 1-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. The deadline for receiving applications is April 13… Nominations are now being accepted for the National Council of Youth Sports 2007 Hershey's STRIVE Awards! These highly regarded youth sports industry annual awards recognize coaches, administrators, officials and volunteers from hometown communities through the United States who through their actions and professionalism have demonstrated to young people that sports teach respect, initiative, values and excellence. Sophomore outside hitter Matt Anderson (West Seneca, N.Y.), a member of the 2006 USA Volleyball Men’s Junior National Team, pounded a career-high and new rally-scoring-era record 35 kills as the sixth-ranked Penn State men’s volleyball team outlasted fourth-ranked UC Santa Barbara in five games (30-24, 30-28, 28-30, 19-30, 19-17) on March 12 in Santa Barbara, Calif. In addition to Anderson’s 35 kills, which came on .452 hitting, sophomore middle hitter Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio), also a U.S. Junior National Team member, contributed 14 kills on .476 hitting. As a team, Penn State attacked at a .385 clip as UC Santa Barbara hit .383… The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team is seeking a responsible, motivated, and qualified candidate for a volunteer internship position. Responsibilities include assisting in the management of the office, soliciting and maintaining sponsorships, travel arrangements, helping with team practices, and other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include strong communication skills and a good knowledge of computers. An interest in volleyball would also be of use. The internship is for the summer of 2007 – May through September. Please submit your resume via e-mail to Ronald Larsen, assistant coach.
