U.S. MEN MAKE QUICK WORK OF ITALY
Showing better composure and consistency than on Friday, it took the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team just one hour, 27 minutes to defeat a primarily rookie Italian squad 3-0 (25-19, 30-28, 25-23) for an FIVB World League victory on Saturday in front of 3,720 at the Convocation Center at Chicago State University. U.S. WOMEN START SEASON AT PAN AM CUP

Photo copyrighted by USA Volleyball The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team officially starts its 2007 campaign at the 12-team Sixth Annual Pan American Cup June 21-29 at Colima, Mexico. The competition venue will be the Polideportivo Universitario de Villa de Alvarez. The United States is grouped into Pool A during the Pan American Cup preliminary round with Argentina, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago. MORE

MINNEAPOLIS PREPARES FOR 2007 GIRLS' JUNIOR OLYMPICS

The city of Minneapolis, Minn. prepares to welcome over 8,500 club volleyball players to the Minneapolis Convention Center for the 2007 Junior Olympic Girls’ Volleyball Championship. The event will be held June 29-July 8, drawing athletes, families, spectators and college coaches from around the nation. By the end of the 10-day event, 19 champions will be crowned, and the city’s hotels, restaurants and shopping centers will have all scored big. MORE

U.S. MEN'S SITTING TEAM PLAYS IN SARAJEVO OPEN
The U.S. Men’s Sitting Volleyball Team recently returned from the Sarajevo Open, an eight-team tournament held in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina from May 25-27. With nine members of the squad returning from the 2006 World Championships Team that finished ninth in Roermond, The Netherlands, the team finished the tournament in eighth place. MORE

ATLANTA TO HOST 2008 ADULT OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Atlanta will host the 2008 USA Volleyball Open Championships.

The 2008 USA Open Volleyball Championships will be held May 24-31 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. USA Volleyball has earmarked the Gate City of the South as host city for major events on three other occasions: 2003 and 2006 USA Junior Olympic Girls’ Volleyball Championship, and the upcoming 2007 USA Junior Olympic Boys’ Volleyball Championship. 2007 FIVB WOMEN'S JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GROUPS SET

An annual South Bay summer 4-man and 4-woman volleyball tournament has been renamed in honor of LMU's Kim Blankinship. Blankinship, who starred for LMU volleyball from 1993-1996, died in October from heart failure at the age of 31. The Kim Blankinship Memorial Volleyball Tournament will be held Saturday, June 30th at Knob Hill in Redondo Beach, Calif. Click here for more information.
