U.S WOMEN SECURE TICKET TO BEIJING VIA WORLD CUP FINISH
The U.S. Women's National Team secured a berth into the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing by medaling at the FIVB World Cup in Japan Nov. 2-16. Team USA left Japan with a 9-2 record, including a win over current number-one Brazil, and the World Cup bronze medal. MORE

U.S. MEN SEEK OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION AT FIVB WORLD CUP

The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team will open the 2007 FIVB World Cup tournament in dramatic fashion when it faces defending champion and world top-ranked Brazil on Nov. 18 in Matsumoto, Japan. It will close the tournament on Dec. 2 in Tokyo in a similar fashion, when it will play Russia, ranked third in the world. MORE

MAY-TREANOR, WALSH, ROSS EARN FIVB POSTSEASON AWARDS
U.S. beach volleyball players Misty May-Treanor (Costa Mesa, Calif.), Kerri Walsh (Santa Clara, Calif.) and April Ross (Newport Beach, Calif.) were honored with postseason awards from the FIVB. May-Treanor and Walsh shared the award as the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour’s top offensive players in 2007. The 29-year old Walsh was honored as the 2007 women’s SWATCH most outstanding player as selected by representatives from SWATCH and FIVB. MORE

KARPOL HEADLINES USAV HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHES' CLINIC

USA Volleyball’s Department of Indoor High Performance announced today details for its 6th Annual USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic to be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., from Jan. 17-20, 2008. World-renowned Russian volleyball coach Nikolai Karpol, “The Howling Bear,” will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. Among his many accomplishments, Karpol has won two Olympic gold medals (1980, 1988), two Olympic silver medals (1992, 2000), FIVB World Championship gold medal in 1990 and three bronze medals (1994, 1998, 2002) in the same event. He was selected Coach of the Year by the FIVB in 1989 and 1991. MORE

USA WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM TRYOUT APPLICATION
USA Volleyball will hold open tryouts for the 2008 USA Women's Volleyball National Team on Feb. 22-24 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. This tryout is open to current college-age athletes and older, AND high school athletes born in 1989 or earlier. For additional details and the application, CLICK HERE

HIGH PERFORMANCE ANNOUNCES GIRLS' TRYOUT SCHEDULE

USA Volleyball's High Performance Indoor Program will host 33 tryouts for girls in 2008. The USA Volleyball High Performance Tryout online registration system will be available soon. Cost for registering through the online High Performance Tryout registration system will stay at $65; and the cost for registering using the mail-in or fax-in HP tryout registration will be $75. AVCA ANNUAL CONVENTION, AVCA TALENT SHOWCASE
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Annual Convention runs Dec. 11-15, 2007, at Sacramento, Calif. In addition, the AVCA has received a waiver from the NCAA to hold a new program called AVCA Talent Showcase for high school junior and seniors or junior college volleyball players not yet signed to play at the next level. USA Volleyball referees turned out to pay their finals respects to Ben Jordan, who passed away on Oct. 31, at his funeral on Nov. 7.
